Human Rights Issue: Health Care and Potable Water
Defender: Loune Viaud
Country of Origin: Haiti
Articles that are Relevant to the Human Rights Issue: Article 25
Human rights violations can't really be truly eliminated because wherever you go, there are unlawful things happening. Our issue, lack of Health Care and Potable Water, violates article 25 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 25 states “You have the right to have what you need to live decent life, including food, clothes, a home, and medical care for you and your family. You have the right to get help from society if you’re in any other kind of situation through no fault of your own.” Sometimes people are not getting all the rights that they deserve, because of natural disasters which we can't stop. However, the issue of lack of Health Care and Potable Water is difficult to solve, but we can find ways to prevent these issues and change into a better society by getting people involved. There are many people such as Loune Viaud who got involved in this problem and create organizations. They have shown that they care. Therefore, people who try to make a change are true heros because they actually speak out against those who don’t care. Often defenders of human rights, travel to poor areas just to help change the lives of others.
There will be always a turning point that makes a defender pursue justice, since they usually work on an issue from their home and when they see a disaster happening where they are from, they cannot stop themselves from getting involved. If they get involved, their company will as well. Defenders don’t care what credit they get after helping people. All they want is to comfort someone in need. Loune Viaud dedicated her life to the issue of Health Care and Potable Water after she saw how the people in Haiti suffered after the 2010 earthquake. The news of the earthquake in Haiti caused her to fight for equal human rights because she knew that no one would help as much as she could. As a result, she has gone so far that everyone looks up to her. Loune Viaud is a woman who was born the same as everyone else, but because of the earthquake her kindness caused her to do more than most people to help. She clearly as a loving heart. Therefore, although people are basically the same, after a dangerous situation, some people become lifesavers, while some just ignore the problem and not care at all. Many people are not as lucky to have the time to help as much in a disaster as Loune Viaud, but like her, most people want to defend and help the place where they are from.
